Membership

RKC membership runs from 1 April to 31 March and includes:

  • weekly training sessions
  • use of RKC equipment and uniforms
  • Korfball Canterbury annual membership fee
  • Korfball Canterbury winter competition fees

Korfball in Christchurch

Winter Competition

RKC teams play in Korfball Canterbury's winter competition at Cowles Stadium from May to September each year. This competition is open to A grade and social grade teams and games run from approximately 6.30pm through to 9.30pm each Tuesday evening.

2008 KC Winter Competition, was completed in August. Well done to all our teams; Wombles, Under 19's, Jets and Respawn. Congratulations to Steve Asher who was awarded the male MVP for the season.

Summer League

The 3rd annual Summer League begins on Tuesday 28 October 2008. Registrations are open now.

This social outdoor competition is a great way to learn or improve your game. Mixed teams of eight players play round-robin games each Tuesday evening.

Junior Korfball

RKC Junior Korfball starts agains on Tuesday 28 October.

Junior Korfball for primary and intermediate aged children runs in conjunction with the RKC Summer League. These after school sessions are run by experienced korfball coaches and provide skills, games and fun for boys and girls of all abilities. Both new and experienced players are welcome.

Training

Due to lack of availability of a suitable venue, weekly training is on hold until further notice. The Committee is currently investigating other training venues and will keep you posted.

Coaches/Referees

RKC members include several accredited referees and coaches who are available to assist new players to get started in the game or help existing players/teams upskill.

Referee courses are free. RKC is always on the lookout for anyone interested in becoming a korfball coach or referee and courses are available through Korfball New Zealand.

Representative Players

Riccarton Korfball Club is proud to have many Canterbury and New Zealand Senior and Under 23 representative players among its members.

Well done to all RKC members who have been selected to represent Canterbury at the National Provincial Champiosnships in Wellington on September 20-21.
