Annual Membership 2009/10

Annual membership for Riccarton Korfball Club comes up for renewal on
1 April. Membership fee include:
• team entry fee for Korfball Canterbury winter competition
• RKC winter playing shirt (to be returned at the end of the competition)
• training sessions throughout the winter
• KNZ annual registration fee
• use of RKC equipment
• free entry to 2009/10 Summer League
The fees have been remained at the same level as last year and the following
discounts are available:
• Student discount (upon sight of valid student ID)
• Family discount (when more than one member from the same family joins
– conditions apply)
• Early Bird discount (when full payment received by 5pm on 31 March 2009)
A reimbursement of $60 is available to members who take up an active role
in the club. A list of the available positions is attached and includes
coaching and committee roles. Be sure to indicate on the back of your
Application for Membership Form, how you can help RKC this year. Coaching
roles will start in April, when indoor training sessions begin, while
committee positions will be formalised at the AGM.
AGM
The Annual General Meeting is scheduled for:
When: Thursday, 30 April 2009
At: 7.00pm
Where: Riccarton Cricket Club, Hagley Oval, off Hagley Ave
Social drinks and nibbles at the bar following the meeting. Please be
there to support your club.
Bunnings Community Fun Day
On Saturday, 14 March RKC participated in the Bunnings Community Fun
Day at Tower Junction. The aim of this event was to promote korfball and
our club. Many thanks to the small group of volunteers from the Odds’n’Sods
summer league team (Kevin Warlow, Anita Lee Smith, Kate Revell and Boyd
Kedzlie) who gave up their time to help out.
RKC Summer League
The final round of the summer league (postponed from 10 March due to
adverse weather) will be held on Tuesday, 17 March. All games will be
played at 7pm followed by prize giving and social get together in the
Riccarton Cricket Club.
Winter Training
Final arrangements are being made for an indoor training venue for the
club this season. Training looks like it will be on a Wednesday or Thursday
evening. Further details, including a start date and location, will follow.
KC Winter Competition
RKC teams play in Korfball Canterbury's winter competition at Cowles
Stadium from May to September each year. This competition is open to A
grade and social grade teams and games run from approximately 6.30pm each
Tuesday evening.
The 2009 Winter Competition begins on Tuesday, 5 May. Games will run
from 6.30pm to 10pm for 12 to 16 weeks.
Have-A-Go Sessions:
Korfball Canterbury will be running two 'Have a Go' sessions:
When: Tuesday, 21 April and Tuesday, 28 April from 7pm-10pm
Where: Cowles Stadium
These free sessions are to introduce and teach Korfball to those who
have never played Korfball before or those who want to pick up some skills
and coaching. No booking required. Just turn up and have a go.
Referees Course
KC will be running a referees course in the next few weeks. RKC members
are encouraged to attend to learn more about the rules of korfball and
to support our local competitions.
Loan of RKC Equipment
RKC equipment is available for loan to the following groups.
• RKC members for Club purposes
• RKC members for personal use
• Other korfball clubs/organisations
Conditions apply and a ‘Loan of Equipment Sign-Out Form & Guidelines’
form must be completed before any equipment is loaned.

What are our Members up to?
RKC members will be representing Canterbury at the following tournaments
on both sides of the Tasman in the next few months.
• National Provincial Champs (NPC): Christchurch, 18-19 April 2009
• Oceania Regional Korfball Champs (ORKC): Adelaide, South Australia,
6-7 June 2009
